2025 Annual Conference
Innovative Practices in Writing Center Pedagogy
February 28 – March 1 | Virtual Conference

As writing centers continue to evolve, it is crucial to embrace innovative approaches that address the changing needs of students and the evolving landscape of education. We invite proposals that showcase creative strategies, technologies, and methodologies that have been successfully implemented in writing centers. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:

-
Integrating digital tools and resources in writing instruction
-
Developing new tutoring models and techniques
-
Enhancing student engagement and motivation
-
Addressing the needs of multilingual students
-
Implementing data-driven approaches to assess and improve writing center services
-
Fostering collaboration between writing centers and other departments
-
Promoting professional development for writing center staff

Proposal submissions close EOD January 21, 2025.

Session Format Options:
-
All sessions will be 75 minutes in length and, as this is an in-person conference, must be conducted onsite at the University of Arkansas. Since demystification is an active, dialogue-driven process, we request that all sessions have an active component. Addressing how you will engage your audience should thus be a key part of your proposal.
-
While the session types include the familiar – individual sessions, panels, workshops, roundtables, and Special Interest Groups – we also welcome “other” session types that may fall outside of the familiar conference proposal parameters.

Submission Deadlines:
-
Proposal Format: Proposals should include a title and an abstract (250-300 words).
-
Submission Deadline: January 21, 2025
-
Submission Method: Please submit your proposals here.
-
Notification of Acceptance: Presenters will be notified of acceptance by the week of February 3, 2025.
-
We encourage submissions from writing center professionals at all career stages, including undergraduate and graduate students and early-career scholars. The SCWCA conference is an excellent opportunity to share your innovative practices, network with peers, and contribute to the advancement of writing center pedagogy.
